"Unless you be converted and become as a little child..." [Mt 18:3]
Jesus' words imply much more than a one time conversion from unbelief to faith. OC calls it "continuous conversion", and I would liken it to continuous development in my field. Software is almost never a completed work. People shouldn't be either. If we would be tools of our master, we must be ready to continuously improve, or be constantly changed and converted, into something more and more useful to Him.
The natural man wants, however, to say, "Oh, I became a believer years ago, at such and such a place and time, and now I'm all good." Yes, you may be saved and sealed for eternal life. But that in no way means you are mature as a believer, nor even mature as a person. Never stop growing and learning. Never become self-satisfied.
At the same time, we can't just wait and wait and wait, growing ONLY, until some future date when we will be a spiritual "giant", and ready at last for service. Such a person will wait forever! We are ready to do something for our Lord, at least testify for him, no matter how young or immature we still are. Opportunities to work are opportunities to grow, and in every case, to be more childlike in our obedience to the Lord Jesus.
